The city and its surrounding areas, the Estella District, provide guests with a wide range of things to do.
Estella was founded in the X century to attend to the needs of the large number of pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela. It still conserves a good part of its mediaeval monuments. Its most noteworthy buildings include the Church of San Pedro de la Rúa, with its Romanesque cloister, the Palace of the Kings of Navarre, the house of Fray Diego and the Church of the Santo Sepulcro.

An outstanding natural environment with landscapes replete with beech, maple, ash and holly trees. There are several viewpoints with wonderful views, such as the Balcón de Pilatos or the Lizarraga viewpoint. Don’t miss the Natural Reserve of the Source of the River Urederra.

A great place for trekking and cycling.
The monastery is located in a unique historical-artistic environment of Cistercian origin built between the XII and the XIV century. The remaining mediaeval constructions include the base of the Church, the Cloister, Chapter room, Punishment cells, Locutory and Kitchen. The rest of the buildings are the result of successive remodelling work in the XVI and XVII centuries. It is in a good state of preservation and is surrounded by hills and areas of outstanding natural beauty.
Today, it preserves the Benedictine church (XII century), the Plateresque cloister, Herrerian tower and other buildings from when it housed a university. Visitors can also drink from the Wine Fountain, which belongs to Bodegas Irache, next to the Monastery, from which one spout offers water and the other, wine.
The Estella District is a winemaking district. Visitors can partake of the pleasures of wine by arranging guided tours of some of the local wineries.

The San Fermin Fiesta has become a universal event and the cornerstone of the identity of the city of Pamplona and, by extension, all of Navarre. Pamplona changes completely from the 6th to the 14th of July to make way for brass bands, processions and, of course, the famous Bull Runs. Good cheer and high spirits abound at this time of the year. Hotel Tximista is just 44 km from Pamplona, making it a wonderful place to enjoy the Fiesta and then rest from a thrilling day out.
